1) Builders in Hampton Hill- Extensions & Full Home Renovations
At IN Construction Ltd, we specialise in extensions and full home renovations across Surrey and the surrounding areas. For us, a successful renovation isn't simply about making a property look newer. It's about understanding how the homeowners live, what isn't working in their existing home and how the property can be improved for the years ahead.
A project we completed on Burtons Road in Hampton Hill is a particularly good example of this approach. Our relationship with the homeowners actually began in 2023, when they first appointed us to renovate their kitchen.
Two years later, they contacted us again. This time, they were expecting their first child and wanted to undertake a comprehensive renovation of the remainder of their home before the new arrival. One of the three bedrooms would become the baby's room, while the rest of the property needed to be brought up to the same standard as the kitchen we had previously completed.
What followed was far more than a cosmetic refurbishment. It became a substantial, project-managed renovation involving the fabric, services and finishes of the property.
Back to top2) A Full Home Renovation on Burtons Road, Hampton Hill
The 2025 phase covered virtually every remaining part of the house, including all three bedrooms, the family bathroom, living room, dining room, hallway, stairs and landing and downstairs storage areas.
The project involved a significant amount of work behind the finished surfaces too.
We carried out electrical rewiring and alterations to the heating system to accommodate the new designer radiators specified throughout the property. Insulated plasterboard was installed to external-facing walls, while sound-reducing plasterboard was used on party walls to help improve acoustic separation.
In the living room, the existing floorboards were lifted so that PIR insulation could be installed between the suspended timber floor joists before the floor was reinstated ready for its final finish.
Because we were already undertaking such extensive work, it made sense to consider improvements like these while the property was accessible rather than concentrate solely on what would be visible at completion.
Back to top3) Modernising an Older Home Without Removing Its Character
One of the important aspects of the Burtons Road renovation was getting the balance right between modernisation and traditional detailing.
Several of the property's old lath-and-plaster ceilings had dated textured finishes. These ceilings were removed and replaced as part of the renovation, giving us a sound new surface from which to create the finished rooms.
Decorative plaster coving and ceiling roses were then incorporated throughout key areas of the house. New panelled internal doors, skirtings and architraves formed part of the complete carpentry package, helping create a consistent style from room to room.
The aim wasn't to turn an established Hampton Hill property into something resembling a featureless new-build. The house needed modern services, improved insulation and completely renewed interiors, but the clients also wanted detailing that gave the finished home character.
That approach continued into the new family bathroom.
Back to top4) A New Family Bathroom With Traditional Detailing
The existing bathroom was completely stripped out and rebuilt.
Plumbing was altered to accommodate the new sanitaryware and bath, followed by new wall tiling, flooring and decorative timber panelling. The design continued the more traditional styling being introduced throughout the rest of the property so that the bathroom felt like part of the same home rather than a standalone renovation.
Taking this whole-house approach allowed us to coordinate the bathroom, bedrooms, living spaces, carpentry, heating, electrical work, plastering and decoration as one project.
Back to top5) Bespoke Carpentry and Living- Room Features
The living room included one of the most individual parts of the project.
We created a bespoke fitted installation incorporating the television area, built-in cabinetry and illuminated display shelving around the existing fireplace arrangement.
Details like this are considered as part of the wider renovation rather than being treated as an afterthought. The finished room needed to work practically for the clients while fitting naturally with the traditional detailing used elsewhere in the house.
Once the construction, mechanical and electrical, plastering and carpentry packages were complete, the property was decorated throughout to bring the different elements of the renovation together.
Back to top6) When Is the Best Time to Improve Insulation During a Renovation?
A major renovation can provide an ideal opportunity to assess parts of a property that would otherwise be difficult and disruptive to access.
At Burtons Road, for example, the scope of the works allowed us to install insulated plasterboard to external-facing walls and PIR insulation beneath the living-room floor while the relevant areas were already being worked on.
That doesn't mean the same specification is appropriate for every house. Existing construction, ventilation, moisture behaviour and the proposed renovation all need to be considered before deciding on the correct approach.
However, if floors, walls or ceilings are already being opened as part of a substantial renovation, it is worth considering whether appropriate improvements can be incorporated at that stage rather than disturbing the finished property again later.
Back to top7) Is It Better to Renovate a House All at Once or Room by Room?
There isn't one answer that suits every homeowner.
The Burtons Road project is actually a good example of both approaches. We originally completed the kitchen as an individual project in 2023. The clients then chose to renovate virtually all of the remaining house together in 2025.
Phasing work can make sense where budget, timing or family circumstances require it. However, where several rooms require interconnected work to the electrics, heating, insulation, plasterwork, carpentry and decoration, approaching them as one coordinated renovation can make the construction sequence much more efficient and help create consistency throughout the finished home.
We assess this individually with each client rather than assuming every property needs the same solution.
Back to top8) Detailed Information Makes a Difference on Major Renovations
Our Burtons Road client is an architect and provided a particularly detailed package of drawings and project information.
That was valuable from the beginning. It allowed us to assess and price the work against a clearly defined scope and gave us detailed information to work from throughout construction.
For larger renovations and extensions, good information reduces ambiguity. Drawings, specifications, structural information and clearly identified finishes allow different elements of the project to be coordinated before they become decisions that need resolving on site.
We can become involved at different stages of a project, but where detailed information is already available, it gives us a much stronger basis from which to understand the proposed works and prepare an appropriate estimate.
Back to top9) Home Extensions in Hampton Hill
Sometimes an existing house can be transformed through internal renovation alone. On other properties, the better long-term solution is to combine remodelling with additional floor space.
As the Burtons Road renovation approached completion, we had extensive discussions with the clients about a possible future extension to their home once their growing family is a little older.
No two properties or families need exactly the same solution. Our approach is therefore to understand what the homeowner is trying to achieve before deciding whether the existing footprint can be made to work better or whether an extension should form part of the project.
For homeowners searching for a builder in Hampton Hill for an extension or substantial renovation, this early discussion can be particularly valuable. The objective shouldn't simply be to build the largest possible extension; it should be to create the right space and layout for the way the household actually intends to use the property.
Back to top10) Personally Project- Managed From Start to Finish
Major building work involves numerous interconnected trades and decisions. That's why our extensions and full home renovations are project managed from beginning to end.
Ralph remains personally involved in the projects IN Construction Ltd undertakes, giving clients a clear point of responsibility throughout the build.
Our work can bring together structural work, plumbing and heating, electrical installation, insulation, plastering, kitchens, bathrooms, carpentry, flooring and decoration as part of one coordinated project.
The Burtons Road clients had already experienced how we worked when we completed their kitchen in 2023. Being invited back two years later to renovate virtually the entire remainder of their home is something we particularly value.
By completion, what had previously been a series of rooms requiring modernisation had become a coherent family home, completed in preparation for the next stage of the clients' lives.

Back to top12) Frequently Asked Questions
Do you undertake full home renovations in Hampton Hill?
Yes. Full home renovations are one of our core areas of work. Depending on the property and specification, we can coordinate everything from structural and insulation works through to electrical, plumbing and heating, plastering, bathrooms, kitchens, carpentry, flooring and final decoration.
Do you build house extensions in Hampton Hill?
Yes. We specialise in substantial residential projects including house extensions and full renovations. We can discuss a proposed extension at an early stage or work from an existing architectural and structural package where the project has already been developed.
Do I need architectural drawings before contacting you?
Not necessarily. We're happy to discuss a project before all of the construction information has been produced. However, detailed drawings and specifications give us a much clearer basis for assessing scope and pricing; the architect-prepared information on our Burtons Road project was a good example of how useful this can be.
Can you renovate my house in stages?
Yes. Sometimes phasing a renovation is the right approach. Our Burtons Road clients initially had their kitchen renovated in 2023 before asking us back in 2025 to renovate the remainder of the property, so we can discuss whether completing everything together or breaking the project into stages makes more sense.
Can insulation be improved as part of a full renovation?
Potentially, yes, and a major renovation can create opportunities to access areas that would otherwise be disruptive to open later. At Burtons Road we installed insulated plasterboard to external-facing walls and PIR insulation between suspended timber floor joists, but the appropriate specification should always be determined from the construction and condition of the individual property.
Can you manage all of the different trades?
Yes. That's fundamental to the service we provide on substantial renovations and extensions. Rather than the homeowner having to separately coordinate the different stages, we manage the construction programme and the trades required to deliver the agreed scope.
How much does a full home renovation in Hampton Hill cost?
There isn't a meaningful fixed price for a full renovation because the scope can vary enormously between properties. Size, structural alterations, specification, M&E requirements, kitchens, bathrooms, insulation and the level of finish can all materially affect the cost. We therefore prefer to understand the project properly before providing guidance rather than advertise a figure that may have little relevance to the individual property.
